Have you ever felt like thoughts about food, weight, and your body are running your life? Our society puts a great deal of pressure on the things we eat, how we move our bodies, and what we look like. Eating disorders, disordered eating, and body image concerns are very common, and are treatable. You are not alone in your struggles! Through counseling and treatment, we can work together to help you explore your relationship with food, movement, and your body. By promoting body neutrality and Health At Every Size (HAES), we can help to decrease the importance of food, weight, and body image in your life, and help you to rediscover aspects of life that bring you joy.
Depression, fear, and anxiety are some of the most common and uncomfortable emotions that we can experience at some point in our lives. Through counseling and treatment, we are able to help you recover motivation, perspective, and joy that you once had in your life.
Many individuals can experience symptoms associated with painful and traumatic circumstances. Anxiety, fear, and hopelessness are a few emotions that can linger post traumatic events. We can help you overcome these symptoms and guide you through the process of grief and healing.
Life changes and transitions can feel overwhelming and intimidating. If you find yourself needing extra support during these times, you are not alone. We can work together to help you feel confident and self-assured through new life stages and experiences.
Dance, gymnastics, and other sports can add additional pressure to the already challenging relationships we may have with food and our body, and reinforce perfectionistic ideas. I can help you to navigate these challenges and maximize the enjoyment and embodiment you may feel as an athlete, while working to prioritize self-care and self-compassion.
Mental illnesses can be influenced by our genetics and body functions, as well as our unique stressors and life experiences. Psychiatric medication can be helpful in addressing the body functions that relate to our mental health.
